This project transforms a surplus Department of Defence site into a high quality 50 hectare residential estate on one of the largest remaining undeveloped sites in close proximity to the city centre.
Recipient of Randwick City Council Urban Design Award for Master Planning 2004
The scheme creates 660 new residential lots, 13 hectares of public open space in 7 new parks, environmental protection areas and wetlands, a new community centre and 18 new public streets. A range of lot sizes will accommodate a variety of housing types and densities.
The plan integrates adjoining areas creating a seamless transition to existing streets and residential areas.
The street layout interprets the historic layout of pre-existing military buildings and forms the estate around neighbourhoods. Each neighbourhood has a
local park within a 400m radius (5 minute walk) of surrounding houses.
The first stage of the project has been completed, with subsequent stages now under construction. Mirvac has designed and constructed a number of housing types that interpret the controls in the Development Control Plan.
