Brett Sperling

Brett graduated from the UNSW in 1999 with first Class Honours. Since joining Hill Thalis in 2006, Brett has been project architect on numerous projects from the design stage through to completion. These range in scale and type, and include large housing projects, commercial buildings, sporting facilities, heritage and adaptive re-use projects. He has also acquired an extensive understanding of urban design and the architectural potential of affordable housing. Recent important projects include:

Prior to joining Hill Thalis, Brett worked for 5 years with Coma Design, a multi-disciplinary firm specialising in retail and residential architecture. Whilst at Coma Design, Brett managed a variety of commercial projects from concept design stage through to construction documentation and final completion. He also managed several small scale residential projects through to DA approval. Some of the major projects Brett completed include the flagship stores for Ben Sherman, Morrissey and Gelatissimo and the office refurbishment for Grinham Managed Funds.

Brett also worked at Marchese + Partners and Marchese + Popov working on large scale residential projects. He also spent over 1 year working at Lippmann Associates being involved in residential projects and small scale commercial buildings, including the King George the IVth Recreational Center, Taylor House and the First Neon Office development.

Brett has also taught architectural theory at the University of Technology, Sydney and Technologies at the University of NSW. He also pursues an interest in fine art, focusing on collages, paintings and portraits.
